WELLS Center - Work, Education and Lifelong Learning Simulation Center

WELLS Center Inaugural Partners

The WELLS Center was funded in part by a grant awarded to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) under the President's High Growth Job Training Initiative, as implemented by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Division.  The Center has now advanced to a non-profit status and is gaining support and momentum for continuing its important mission of advancing multi-disciplinary healthcare expertise.

Meet our WELLS Center Inaugural Partners

Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) – a primary visionary and key funder of the WELLS Center, the CDLE has been instrumental in both funding the Center and lending workforce development expertise to alleviate nursing and healthcare worker shortages in Colorado.  The CDLE also provides an e-learning portal, www.e-Colorado.org, which supports a myriad of key state and national workforce development initiatives, including the WELLS Center.

Colorado Workforce Development Council – As a primary visionary and key funder of the WELLS Center, the Council is dedicated to finding innovative solutions to address the healthcare worker shortages faced in Colorado.

Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence - Most importantly, CNE is contracted by the CDLE to conduct the WELLS Center operations.  CNE is an organization exclusively dedicated to ensuring that Colorado has adequate numbers of highly-qualified nurses. Specific to patient simulation, the CDLE contract funds key WELLS staff members to provide expertise to define current nursing workforce competency requirements, update and revise nursing/healthcare educational curriculum and content, and develop strategies to harness emerging industry needs.

University of Colorado Hospital – As a teaching hospital, the UCH provides space for the WELLS Center, in collaboration with CDLE and the Colorado Workforce Development Council, to support the technology innovations in expanding the pipeline of healthcare professionals. Moreover, because of their capacity to achieve deep discounts on medical equipment, UCH served as the CDLE's agent under contract to purchase the specialized, highly technical healthcare equipment, audiovisual equipment, computer equipment, and other office equipment and furniture needed to create the WELLS state-of-the-art facility.

University of Colorado Health Sciences Center – Center for Human Simulation – The UCHSC provides space, equipment, consultations and staff to support the mission of the WELLS Center.   They provide liaison with the UCHSC's academic health center's schools, faculty and expertise and continue to work closely with the Human Simulation and Visible Human Dissector projects.

Touch of Life Technologies, Inc. – TolTech created the VH Dissector™ technology and contributes the VHD and simulated anatomy resources needed for the WELLS Center, including software and learning tools.

Colorado Area Health Education Centers - AHEC provides consultation and expertise to the WELLS Center on the numerous linkages that AHEC has established among Colorado's academic resources and local healthcare facilities and providers in delivering healthcare programs throughout the state. In this regard, AHEC also provides valuable links to the high school youth population interested in healthcare. The AHEC System improves the quality and accessibility of education for healthcare professionals in Colorado, in order to enhance the delivery of healthcare services throughout the state, with special emphasis on frontier, rural, and urban communities and minority populations.

Colorado Simulation Development Group – is a statewide collaboration of Nurse Educators, in both the practice and education arenas, that support the knowledge and skill of nurse educators in all settings.  This group of nursing experts provides advisement to the WELLS Center in support of the full and effective use of innovative simulation technologies.

Beyond the original Inaugural Partners identified above, the WELLS Center provides many opportunities for additional partnering. For more information about how you can partner with the WELLS Center, contact us today.
