Merging Photorealistic Anatomy with Patient Simulation

The VH Dissector combines the power of cadaver dissection with the technology and convenience of virtual reality. Utilizing data from National Library of Medicine’s Visible Human Project®, the VH Dissector provides the ability to interact with correlated 3D and cross sectional views of over 2,000 anatomical structures through identification, dissection, assembly and rotation. Additionally, users  can create Lesson Packs to augment this powerful resource and provide a complete curriculum for anatomical education.

At the WELLS Center, the VH Dissector is being integrated into a first of its kind training environment by linking the virtual anatomical environment it provides to the clinical scenarios provided by human patient simulators. This unique environment allows the healthcare professional to not only learn how to respond to a specific situation, but to understand the underlying concepts that contribute to the decision making process.
